The Department of Acting Arts at Soongeui Women’s University held a special lecture during the second semester in Room 205 of Building C, inviting actor Hyun-min Yang, who is active across film, television dramas, and theater, to share practical acting know-how with students.
Actor Yang Hyun-min has appeared in numerous box-office hits and popular productions, including the films Extreme Job, The Roundup 2, and Hansan: Rising Dragon, as well as the dramas Everything Will Come True (2025), The Fiery Priest 2 (2024), My Dearest (2023), and Joseon Attorney (2023). Recognized for both his mass appeal and solid acting skills, he has also recently connected with audiences in a more approachable way through the variety show Same Bed, Different Dreams.

In particular, Hyun-min Yang has participated in every project directed by filmmaker Lee Byung-hun, earning the reputation of being the director’s “persona” and receiving high praise for his artistic value and strong screen presence. This background heightened anticipation among Acting Arts students. During the lecture, he shared behind-the-scenes stories from his representative works, real on-set experiences, insights into the rapidly changing media environment, and vivid perspectives on the professional mindset required of an actor. He also explained the differences between theater and film acting, emphasizing the importance of mental resilience in dealing with unexpected situations such as complete scene cuts, which resonated strongly with students.
During the Q&A session that followed, Yang offered generous, experience-based advice on emotional control in on-camera acting, dialogue memorization techniques, audition preparation tips, and ways to break away from typecasting. A participating student remarked, “Listening to real experiences broadened my perspective on acting and helped me understand in detail what kind of mindset an actor should have.”

The Department of Acting Arts at Soongeui Women’s University plans to continue inviting actively working actors, directors, and creators through a variety of programs, striving to provide students with education that is directly connected to real-world practice.
